Your first day

Is this your first day at work? On this page, you will find information about logging in on the webmail and intranet, and the items you must arrange for in the staff portal during the first days of your employment.

As soon as you have received your login details, we ask you to enter a few data in the staff portal. For example, your bank account number! You can do this only when you are at the UMC Utrecht or if  you have a VPN (private) connection. If you need help or do not have access to a computer, contact the ICT Helpdesk 088-7558990.

Every employee of the UMC Utrecht is given a UMC-pass on the first working day, including employees with short term contracts or flex staff, students, volunteers and interns. You can get yours at the Facilitary desk at H.01. Bring your passport. Everyone who has a UMC-card/pass, must wear it visibly and must show it upon request by the Security. The UMC-pass is personal and may not be used for other purposes than personal use.

You can log into your UMC Utrecht webmail via internet from any location. You can use the hyperlink below and log in with your user name and password.

You will receive your user name and password as soon as you have completed the central introduction. Ask your supervisor about this.

Via the staff portal, you can handle many affairs such as requesting for leave, viewing your salary slips, declaring costs, etcetera. 

You log in with your user name and password. The staff portal can only be used, if you are logged into the UMC Utrecht network. This implies that in most cases employees can only use the staff portal when they are at work in the UMC Utrecht. To log in from home, you will need a VPN connection.

The name of the UMC Utrecht intranet is Connect. You can also view information on Connect from home. Surf to www.mijnumc.nl and log in with your user name and password.

To set your UMC email on your smartphone, go to settings in the menu. Under server you put: pim.umcutrecht.nl  and under domain put: ds

Possibly, you will need to install a MDM app with regard to data security. Ask your supervisor about the procedure.

We do not smoke in the buildings and on the grounds of the UMC Utrecht. This way we contribute to a smoke-free generation.

What to do when you are ill? Where do you call in sick? What about when you are ill during your holidays and can you have holidays when you are ill?

We find it important that all employees of the UMC Utrecht are well guided by their supervisors. One way of ensuring that, is by the assessment cycle. Three times a year you and your supervisor engage in a conversation. The first one being on planning, the second on progress and the final one is on the assessment of your performance. Anyone working at the UMC Utrecht can request confidential advice from the officials of the bureau for ombuds- and confidential affairs.

Almost every job at UMC Utrecht has a job description *. You can view your own job description via the employee portal. Your division determines your job description, but there are also jobs that are the same throughout the hospital. It is important to know your own job description, as this is the basis of your work. In addition, there may be additional tasks if they fit in with your job. You can discuss this with your supervisor, for example in your planning interview. Jobs are valued in all UMCs with the job evaluation system FUWAVAZ.

* doctors (without managerial duties), pupils and training positions (including PhD students) do not have a job description.
